Free app and version availability
Regexcellent is free to download and all features remain free. Version 1.0 has no cloud sync or purchases. In version 1.0.1 and later, the optional sync and Apple-tip terms below apply only when those features are available in your installed version. The app has no subscriptions, advertisements or paid feature unlocks. Android version 1.0.3 adds the external tip option described below.
Your internet, device or cloud-storage provider may charge for services you choose. These terms do not authorize a tip or any recurring payment. Using a provider account for optional sync does not create a separate publisher-operated Regexcellent account.
Optional Apple tips — version 1.0.1
You may choose to support the developer with a one-time consumable App Store purchase at the price shown by Apple. Each tip is optional, can be purchased again and unlocks no content, service or entitlement. A tip is not a subscription or a charitable donation, and no tax deduction is promised.
Apple processes payment, purchase authorization and any applicable refund request under its store rules and mandatory law. The app does not collect your payment-card details. Consumable tips do not provide a restorable premium benefit. Contact Apple's purchase support about eligible refund requests; these terms do not limit your statutory rights.
Optional Android tips — version 1.0.3
You can open the developer’s Ko-fi page from Progress to leave a one-time tip using Stripe. Choose One time and review the amount before authorizing payment. Tips support the developer, unlock no app content or benefit, and are not charitable donations; no tax deduction is promised. Cancelling or declining a tip leaves every feature available.
Ko-fi may also display its own recurring-support option. No recurring payment is needed or initiated by Regexcellent. Any payment you separately authorize on Ko-fi is governed by its checkout, terms and payment-provider rules. Contact support@regexcellent.app for tip questions or refund requests, using the receipt reference and no card details. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Permission to use the app
You may install and use a legitimately obtained copy on devices you own or control, for personal learning or lawful professional practice, subject to the applicable store's rules. The app's code, artwork, and original learning content remain the property of their respective rights holders. These terms do not grant permission to sell or redistribute the app or substantial portions of its learning content. Rights granted by third-party licences and rights that applicable law gives you remain unaffected.
You retain your rights in patterns, sample text, and other material you enter. You may use and adapt code snippets generated for you by the app; the publisher claims no ownership of your input. You remain responsible for any third-party rights in the material you use.
Learning and generated code
Regexcellent is a learning and experimentation tool. Regular-expression engines differ, and the app intentionally limits input and execution to help keep it responsive. Explanations, matches, lesson feedback, and generated code may contain errors or differ from another runtime. Review and test patterns and exported code against your actual requirements before using them, particularly with sensitive data or in production systems. No result is a guarantee of security, completeness, or suitability for a particular purpose.
Your device and data
Version 1.0 keeps app data locally. In version 1.0.1, optional sync can copy learning/practice progress and saved patterns to your own iCloud account on Apple devices or private Google Drive app storage on Android. It does not synchronize between Apple and Android ecosystems. Unsaved Playground drafts and notification settings are not included. Newer builds with expanded sync also include learning mastery/review records, best solutions and supported appearance/editor preferences.
Sync depends on authorization, connectivity, provider availability and storage limits. It is not a complete device backup. Offline changes and deletion markers are reconciled when synchronization succeeds. Turning sync off or disconnecting retains local and cloud data; deleting a pattern removes it from the active library but may retain records used for synchronization. Reconnecting with retained local data can upload it again. Removing app storage or changing devices can lose unsynced data. Use only an account you are entitled to access, follow its provider terms, and avoid storing sensitive material you do not want copied to that account. The publisher has no separate server copy from which to restore or remotely erase your private app data.
Lawful use
Use the app and website lawfully. Do not attempt to compromise the website or use either service to infringe another person's rights. You are responsible for having permission to use the text or other material you enter, copy, or share.
Availability and changes
Availability depends on your device, operating-system version, country, and distribution channel. Features and compatibility may change in later releases. There is no promise of uninterrupted website availability, a particular support response time, or updates for every future operating system. Changes to these terms will be published here with a revised effective date. They do not retrospectively remove rights you already have under applicable law.
Warranties and responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app and website are provided as available, without additional promises beyond their stated functionality. Nothing in these terms excludes a mandatory warranty, consumer remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or intentional misconduct. Your mandatory rights and access to competent courts remain unaffected; these terms impose no mandatory arbitration or class-action waiver.
Store terms
The rules and licence terms of the store from which you obtain the app also apply. For copies obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies unless a separate custom EULA is explicitly supplied through that store. These website terms do not replace Apple's standard EULA or narrow any rights granted by the applicable store terms or mandatory law.
